This was a big moment for not only Jay and Alicia Keys but for the hip hop culture. The World Series is one of the biggest events an artist can every perform at, and if I’m not mistaken this is the first time a hip hop act has performed at the World Series.
With the music industry bleeding look for more and more artist to collab on projects to grow their brand. Fabolous, Ne-Yo, and Ryan Leslie are in talks of creating a super group, check it out:
Ryan Leslie and Fabolous just announced they were working on a super project that includes R&B superstar, Ne-Yo
“We’re talking about a triple-team collaboration that’s really gonna hurt the game,”Leslie told MTV recently in New York.“Your boy Fab, the boy Ne-Yo and yours truly on the board. It’s really gonna put a hurting on everybody.” “This guy is a creative genius,”Fab said of Leslie.“I told y’all we was working.”
Loso and Leslie said the trio are open to collaborating with others on the project. “The table is open,”Leslie said. “If you’re bringing something to the table, you can break bread.”
“You just gotta bring some good food to the table,”Fab co-signed.
“It’s about conceptualizing,”Ryan added about how the LP will shape up. “It’s not gonna be a project that’s thrown together. It’s gonna be a real roundtable, and we’re gonna talk about really putting something in the atmosphere that contributes something that’s never been done before.”
Congrats to Ne-Yo and Compound Entertainment on the launch of Compound Entertainment U.K. Homie has really been, in my opinion, the most consistent R&B artist since his entrance into the music industry. Ne-Yo has only been on the national scene as an artist for three years; his debut album was released in 2006. In his short career, he has already placed himself amongst R&B royalty; and now his maturation into a business mogul, actor, and producer speaks volumes of his talent and focus. More from Billboard on his Compound ENT. U.K. Below check it out:
U.S. R&B star Ne-Yo has announced the U.K. arm of his Compound Entertainment management/artist development/production company.
Speaking at a launch party in Fifty nightclub last night (July 14), Ne-Yo said the venture would seek out “U.K. talent in all its forms – artists, songwriters, whatever’s out there.” The U.K. operation will also feature a publishing arm, according to Ne-Yo. The first British act to come under the Compound umbrella is London-based, Geffen-signed R&B boy band FDM. Compound is co-managing the group and co-executive producing its forthcoming album.
Ne-Yo said the venture would be looking for talent across all genres, not just urban artists, and that he would be as “hands-on” as possible with the U.K. operation, details of which are still being finalized. ”I want to spend as much time here as possible,” he said. “I want to listen to everything and say ‘yay’ or ‘nay.’”
Compound Entertainment was founded by Ne-Yo and his manager/business partner Reynell “Tango” Hay, who run the company as joint-CEOs. Ne-Yo said the U.K. arm was likely to be its only international office for the foreseeable future.
Compound is currently seeking U.K. office space and will announced U.K. staffing details later this year. Ne-Yo’s latest album “Year of the Gentleman” (Mercury) peaked at No. 2 in the United Kingdom in September 2008.
