Being that it doesn’t look like Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao will touch gloves in the ring this year or maybe ever, it leaves many wondering what’s next for Floyd arguably the best pound for pound fighter ever. Its rare to see a competitor of Mayweather’s caliber not translate that same competitiveness to another arena. We saw how George Forman transformed into the best sales man ever, and how Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan evolved into true entrepreneurs heading two of the biggest brands in Urban America. Now it seems its Floyd turn to take those millions he’s earned and leverage his marketing potential to transcend boxing. Floyd has already shown he can draw a crowd in other areas. He took home a $2o million payday for his wrestling match against the Big Show of the WWE, so there is definitely a life after boxing for him entertainment wise. Lets just hope Mayweather has one more great fight in him before he retire the gloves for good; because a fight with him and Pacquiao would be the fight of the decade. The fight would also give Floyd the biggest payday of his career considering he’s due to make close to $100 million for the match. Only time will tell, but in the mean time leave your thoughts on what you think is next for Floyd Mayweather.
Here is episode 3 of Floyd Mayweather vs. Shane Mosley HBO’s 24/7. The fight is going down tomorrow; its time to show and prove for both fighters. Who are you putting your money on.
Lol… Floyd Mayweather is relentless in and out of the ring when it come to his opponents. Here he break down the difference in millions that he and Shane Mosley will earn from their up coming fight; and it is a very bigggg difference!
The Mayweather camp wants Pacquiao to under go Olympic style testing for performance enhancements (Floyd agrees to the same testing also), Pacman’s camp says hell no! In a fight that would probably be the biggest grossing boxing event in the history of the sport, and the biggest fight of each of the fighters career I would think that’s a reasonable clause in the contracts.
Espn details on the breaking story:
The Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao fight hit an unexpected snag Tuesday. Mayweather’s camp has asked for Olympic-style random drug tests during the weeks leading up to their March 13th fight, but Pacquiao has refused. Olympic style is more thorough than the Nevada Gaming Commission’s tests, mostly because they examine the blood, urine and test more often.
According to Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer, who is negotiating the deal with Top Rank president Todd duBoef, Pacquiao refuses to have his blood drawn within 30 days of the match because he is superstitious to testing so close to a fight. “Todd told me that Pacquiao has difficulty with taking blood and doesn’t want to do it so close to the fight,” Schaefer said. “He, Pacquiao, would only agree to have blood drawn before the kick-off press conference and after the fight.” The sides will continue to work towards a solution that would close a deal for the biggest prize fight ever
