While the Billboard 200 album chart’s top 10 welcomes six debuts, none can push Eminem’s “Recovery” out of the top slot (116,000 sold according to Nielsen SoundScan; down 12%). The set thus spends its seventh non-consecutive week at No. 1 — the most weeks atop the list since Taylor Swift’s “Fearless” strung together 11 non-consecutive frames in the penthouse in late 2008 and early 2009.
“Recovery” also notches the most weeks at No. 1 for a male artist’s album since Usher’s “Confessions” earned nine weeks in the top slot in 2004, and the most for a hip-hop effort since OutKast’s “Speakerboxxx/The Love Below” did seven in late 2003 and early 2004.
Eminem continues to dominate the Billboard charts:
Eminem’s “Recovery” rebounds to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 after two weeks of sitting by in the runner-up slot. It climbs back to the top with 133,000 according to Nielsen SoundScan. He also moves back to No. 1 on the Digital Songs chart, where his “Love the Way You Lie” (featuring Rihanna) moves up one spot with 254,000 (down 9%). It replaces last week’s No. 1-debuting “Mine” fromTaylor Swift, which started with 297,000. This week, “Mine” drops to No. 4 with 176,000 (down 41%).
As for the rest of the top 10 this week, Justin Bieber’s “My World 2.0″ climbs two spots to No. 5 (33,000; down 11%), Rick Ross’ “Teflon Don” falls two rungs to No. 7 (30,000; down 25%), the “Kidz Bop 18″ set rises two to No. 9 (28,000; up 4%) and Avenged Sevenfold’s “Nightmare” slides seven positions to No. 10 (27,000; down 41%).
Megan Fox gets a lot of press for being a diva but here is a little bit of love for Mrs. Fox showing her softer side and donating her appearance fee from the Eminem video “Love The Way You Lie”.
According to Yahoo! Finance, Fox gave her undisclosed fee to Sojourn, which “provides battered women and their children a safe space to regroup, rebuild, and reestablish their self-esteem and lives.” The song is centered on the subject of domestic abuse.
The Hollywood star filmed scenes with “Lost” actor Dominic Monaghan for the rapper’s “Love the Way You Lie” video premiering Thursday (August 5) on MTV at 9 p.m. ET/PT. While the concept of the video is still unknown, the on-camera couple reportedly got steamy during filming. The duo were snapped locking lips on a rooftop.
“Joseph and I worked pretty closely together to make sure we got this right,” Eminem explained in a press release. Trying to make this tough subject work visually is a challenge. It was great to have Rihanna, Megan and Dominic onboard for this. They really brought it and made this video super-powerful.”

Music Labels Are Going After Google
Britain’s biggest recording industry association, the BPI, has sent a cease-and-desist order to Google (NSDQ: GOOG), asking the search engine to take down links to nine “one-click hosting” sites, each of which hosts thousands of illegal songs.
The BPI’s complaint cites 38 links “that are available via Google’s search engine, and [requests these] links be removed as soon a possible as they directly link to sound recordings owned by [BPI] members”
