Britney Spears

If you’re one of the thousands of small business owners and entrepreneurs who have had to close shop since the recession began you’re in good company. And, although they probably have better hair than you do, more than a few celebrities  have experienced personal business failures, too. Only they tend to have more to lose – and they have to eat way more crow.

The Real World
Lauren Conrad hoped to parlay her MTV “The Hills” fame into high fashion success, launching the Lauren Conrad Collection in March 2008. The new venture barely got off the ground; it was shut down this spring. At least she can take comfort in knowing that her famed “frenemy”, Heidi Montag, suffered the same fate. Her barely-there clothing line - Heidiwood - also tanked just seven months after its launch.

Investors Put the Squeeze on Somersized Venture
Suzanne Somers, best known as the blond, beautiful and often bubble-headed ”Chrissy” on the 1970s TV show Three’s Company, made a bundle with her uber-successful Thigh Master, but didn’t find as much support for ”Suzanne’s Kitchen” – a make-it-yourself meal preparation franchise that provided ingredients and recipes from Somers’ cookbooks. The business was open for less than three months before changes in the business plan and a disagreement with investors led to a quick closing.

lindsay lohan

Lindsay’s getting a helping hand from Larry Rudolph (a man who is all so familiar with managing a troubled celebrity being that he is the manager of Britney Spears) to refresh her career in shambles. I know that as a manager there is a certain level of confidence that you have to posses in growing talent but handling Lindsay and Britney, Larry just might be biting off a little bit more than he can chew.

Between these two Hollywood hell raisers homie committing personal life assassination, there isn’t enough time in the day to put out the media fires these girls cause. It will be interesting to see how he manages to handle two very controversial stars. It seem that the first steps to getting Lindsay’s career back on track will be to get her reality show green lighted. The show  will cover  her trials and tribulations as she gets “back on her feet” and actually becomes a working actress again.

Britney Just how much does it cost to be Britney Spears?

A little less than $1 million a month, according to L.A.Times. Lawyers for Spears’ father, who has permanent control of her personal affairs, submitted the document Friday to the judge supervising the conservatorship.

The filing explains down to the penny how Jamie Spears and an attorney who helps him oversee her business interests spent more than $10 million on the singer’s behalf over the course of 11 months last year. The costs detailed range from the mundane water bills, phone bills, and mortgage payments for her Studio City house to charges that hint at her celebrity status, including a Malibu beach house, assistants’ salaries and round-the-clock security.

Body guards and other security measures cost Spears $447,633, the accounting shows. More than a third of the money paid out $3.6 million went to lawyers. At least17 attorneys have worked on personal and business matters connected to Spears since February 2008, when a court determined she was unable to manage her affairs. Her father’s attorneys alone billed $1 million.

A family court judge ordered the conservatorship to pay her ex-husband’s attorney $625,000 as part of the settlement of the divorce and custody cases, according to the accounting. By court order, Spears paid her former husband, Kevin Federline, $178,818 in support for their two sons and $168,790 to her father for acting as conservator, the documents show.

She received $55,500 in spending money. Many personal expenses were redacted for privacy reasons, including her medical fees, her children’s tuition and “personal grooming” bills, which the accounting described as massages, nail care, makeup and hair. The document did, however, reveal that Spears spent $3,400 on Christmas decorations and $5,840 to have her holiday lights removed.

The document provides little information about Spears’ income. Her assets, which have been estimated at more than $100 million, are held mostly in a private trust from which the conservatorship requests living expenses. The 27-year-old is scheduled to kick off a European tour next month.

Britney cracked the bottle on her “Circus” tour at the New Orleans Arena Tuesday night. The90-minute show included an array of antics and tricks, including jugglers, clowns, magicians, martial artists, acrobats and rings of fire as she played the ring master and performed her countless hit. This tour is clearly a set up for her big come back. The Britney has definitely taken a hit due to her recent public set back it will be interesting to see if her tour and album will produce great interest in a declining music industry.

Britney's Dad Gets a Raise for Looking After Her | Britney Spears, Jamie Spears

Contrary to most others in the American workplace this year, Britney Spears’s father, Jamie Spears, just got a salary increase: to about $75 an hour. On Monday, a Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner boosted by an additional $51,000 the elder Spears’s payment for acting as his daughter’s conservator, the Associated Press reports. Since February, Jamie, 56, has been looking after Britney, 27, to the tune of $10,000 a month. Court Commissioner Reva Goetz has now raised his fee to about $16,000 a month – and made the pay retroactive. Jamie was also granted an additional $1,200 a month for office expenses, which Goetz said was justified by the fact that Britney’s personal and professional life – her new CD Circus recently debuted at No. 1 – now appears to be back on track.
