The greatest reality TV personality of all time (in my opinion) Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino from the hit reality show the Jersey Shore is truly capitalizing off of his new found fame. He has turned his persona into a household brand and reports are stating that Mike The Situation is due to make $5 million this year, numbers many seasoned actors aren’t reaching.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sorrentino will earn $5M this year. Five. MILLION. Dollars.
In addition to the $60,000 an episode he makes after ratings incentives…
The New York native also has developed several products based on his much-touted six-pack: an abs-focused fitness video, “The Situation Workout,” and a chewable supplement line distributed in association with GNC.
Literary ambitions? Check. Sorrentino has partnered with Gotham Books to pen his autobiography, “Here’s the Situation,” which the source said earned him a six-figure advance. Top-shelf liquor connection? Check. He is signing to endorse a new vodka line that boasts another six-figure payday plus partial ownership. Of course he has a “GTL” app and a rap song on iTunes. It doesn’t stop: He has further endorsements with Vitamin Water and Reebok and a deal for a clothing line with Dilligaf.
MTV chiefs are cracking down on the money-grabbing “Jersey Shore” stars’ lucrative personal appearances that are netting them up to $7,500 a night according to sources.
They’ve ordered the cast — including Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino, “Pauly D” Delvecchio and Jenni “JWoww” Farley — to rein in their appearances at clubs and bars or face strict fines or even legal action.
But sources say certain cast members are blatantly ignoring the rules and pushing to rake in as much money as possible — despite having all signed $180,000 contracts to film a second season this summer.
A source close to the cast told us, “MTV has told the ‘Jersey Shore’ crew they can only do two personal appearances a week, and that all of their gigs have to be approved by producers. They’ve threatened the cast that they will be fined if they flout the rules — but some don’t care and are blatantly going ahead to earn as much cash as they possibly can.”
A second source told us MTV honchos fear the show’s “brand” could turn to trash if the cast continues “pimping themselves” at the current rate. The source said, “We have to put in controls to protect the brand. We don’t want them out all over the map at every single bar in the country.
“They have to get permission from MTV prior to doing a personal appearance — we don’t want one of these kids appearing in a topless bar. Pauly D’s fan base is about 85 percent women between 12 and 21, we have to protect that.”
Michael Schweiger, who manages the cast members except Snooki, confirmed, “We’re incredibly busy. It’s a hell of a ride right now. This is something like America hasn’t seen before as far as reality TV goes. Rather than let it run like a train out of control, there has to be some rules put in place.”
The “Real Housewives” of Atlanta will be back for a third season — well, most of them.
According to a source, NeNe Leakes and Kim Zolciak are demanding more money to appear on the show than Bravo cares to dish out — and producers are so fed up with their diva-esque requests, they’re quietly making plans to move on without the two.
“Bravo has been taking meetings with some notable and wealthy Atlanta women about possibly joining the show,” says the insider. “They’re trying their best to keep the process under wraps, but they’re gearing up to make a major move in the third season.”
The insider dishes that the newest Southern socialite will either join the already-rowdy Atlanta crew as a sixth housewife — or replace NeNe or Kim.
While a final decision hasn’t been made, one Atlanta lady who viewers won’t be seeing on the show is Tameka Foster Raymond, better known as Usher’s ex-wife.
Kristin Cavallari, interviews with tv.com to discuss her Lugana Beach days, her four year layoff, and her comeback to the small screen joining the cast of the Hills. I would say Kristin has the most appeal out of all the girls that has found fame from the two series. It’s going to be interesting to see if she can build a brand to rival Lauren’s and Heidi’s. Check out her interview below:
Hi Kristin, thanks for taking the time to talk. You just finished a day of filming and ADR, right?
Yeah, I’m actually driving out of the studio right now.
I hope you’re using a hands-free phone.
Unfortunately I’m not…
Well be careful. So, why did you decide to come back to reality TV? Just for fun? For the money?
Well, you know. MTV had been asking me to join The Hills for the past four years, but I didn’t want to because it was Lauren’s show and I knew they would have made me and Lauren hate each other like they did with Laguna. But with Lauren leaving, I thought it was a way to change the show up and make it more about my personality.
Based on your time on Laguna Beach, people sort of painted you as The Bitch. You definitely got that same treatment when you arrived on The Hills. Looking back on your Laguna years, do you think you earned that reputation?
It’s funny because on Laguna Beach someone was trying to steal my boyfriend, but I got labeled the bitch. Kind of interesting how that came about… But, yeah, I’m very opinionated and I speak my mind. I have a very strong personality. And it’s very easy to label someone like that a bitch. At the same time, I decided to do The Hills and I knew that’s how they were going to play it up, so I decided to embrace it and run with it and just have fun with it.
This is definitely a show to watch if your are an aspiring entrepreneur. The producers of the new ABC reality series Shark Tankare on a nationwide search to discover the next successful – and possibly wealthy – entrepreneurs, inventors, businesspersons, dreamers, promoters, creators and innovators. In each episode, budding entrepreneurs are given the unprecedented chance to make their business ideas come true. Fubu founder David John is a featured investor on the show.
Move over Lauren Conrad, a new blonde is stepping in to be Heidi Montag’s new competition according to nydailynews.com. Well, sort of. “The Hills” star Heidi Montag has been busy preparing for her first live performance of her single “Body Language” for Sunday’s Miss Universe competition.
“my first performance ever! live! in frount of a billion people!!!!!!” Montag wrote on Twitter. “I have butterflies.”
But just when audiences will hear Montag’s attempt of having a legitimate singing career, another busty blonde reality star is hot on her high heels.
“Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Kim Zolciak recently debuted her new single, “Tardy for the Party,” on RyanSeacrest.com.
Zolciak’s single was produced by castmate Kandi Burruss (who also wrote TLC’s hit song “No Scrubs”), while the master mind behind Montag’s song is Grammy Award-winning producer/composer David Foster.
Though both pop songs have big names attached, there’s no arguing that some heavy production was involved to make the wanna-be singers sound half-way decent. And it’s not a surprise either.
Montag was ridiculed after her embarrassing first single, “Higher,” flopped, while Zolciak couldn’t convince audiences she had singing capabilities on “Housewives.
These reality series are becoming very lucrative for features on them. Reality show stars from The Hills, Flavor of Love, Rock of Love, Real Housewives, Real World, and many other reality shows are turning there 15 min of fame into career building brands. Nene from Real Housewives of Atlanta has just announced that she has landed a book deal and I’m sure it will be a fan favorite. Out of all the Atlanta Housewives it seems that fans have taken to her the most. With her over the top personality I’m sure she will be the biggest brand that emerges from the show.
