Lebron James partakes in his first Miami Heat work as he prepares for the much anticipated up coming season check it out.
I don’t know what Carmelo Anthony was thinking to go to twitter and make a statement about put money up for someone to slap Kat Stacks up side the head. He had to know that she is looking for all the attention she can get and she was going to use it to become more infamous. According to her twitter account she has filed a police report against Carmelo for his statements, I’m sure a civil suit is next. We got to do better Melo come on fam!
There’s been a lot of negative thing said about Lebron James and his lack of loyalty to Cleveland Cavs since his decision to sign with the Miami Heat. One thing that has yet to be said is that for him to put his closest friends in a position to manage his brand at such a young age and keep all the checks in the family, how much more loyal can you get. Here is an interview from Incwith Maverick Carter, Lebron’s friend and business partner discussing managing the Lebron Brand, check it out:
In 2006, NBA star LeBron James launched a marketing company, LRMR Innovative Marketing & Branding, and tapped Maverick Carter, a former high school teammate who was then just 24, to run it. The business helps James sign up and work with corporate sponsors such as State Farm and McDonald’s. Carter spoke with senior reporter Jason Del Rey about what it’s like to manage the brand that is LeBron James.
When LRMR was founded, some observers suggested that LeBron shouldn’t put a friend in charge. What was your take on that?
You know, Bill Gates and Paul Allen, they were friends, and they started their business together, and it wasn’t a big deal. But obviously LeBron is a high-profile guy, and the nature of the sports business is that when a young athlete turns pro, he hires an agent who’s been in the business forever, and if he does anything different than that, there will be an uproar.
Shaq is definitely preparing for life after the NBA, his show Shaq Vs. is a hit. He’s always been known as a character who’s easy to market I really anticipate seeing the direction his brand goes once he’s retired.
I think the general public reaction to Cleveland Cavs owner Dan Gilbert comments about Lebron James leaving and going to the Miami Heat were that the statements were very harsh but a bit understandable (when a cash cow like the Cavs tank over night what investor wouldn’t be mad). Well it seem that Rev. Jesse Jackson believes that comments carry some racial undertones.
The Rev. stated “He speaks as an owner of LeBron and not the owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers,” Jackson told The Associated Press. “His feelings of betrayal personify a slave-master mentality. He sees LeBron as a runaway slave.” “LeBron is not a child, nor is he bound to play on Gilbert’s plantation and be demeaned,” Jackson said. “He has been a model citizen and has inspired the children of Akron, Cleveland, the state of Ohio and the United States.”
What are your thoughts? To me Gilbert just reacted like a man who just lost a fortune lol.
Here are a few questions to consider concerning the LBJ Brand and Jordan Brand:
What does Lebron’s decision to join Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh in Miami does to the “Lebron Brand”? I believe that we all know that its enough lime light for the two stars in Miami but one of there brands will take a hit. It’s with out a shadow of an doubt that the Heat is Wade’s team and with Wade carrying Brand Jordan on his back will the LBJ brand become second tier being that Dwayne Wade is the focal point of that Heat franchise?
July 1st will be the official day that teams will be able to began negotiations with the star studded NBA free agent pool. So I want to find out which two free agents would you like to see play together? Below are my top pics if you are not feeling my choices leave your picks in the comment section. With players like Lebron James, Dwayne Wade, Chris Bosh, Carlos Boozer, Amarie Stoudemire, Dirk Nowitzki, and Joe Johnson hitting the marker; along with Carmelo Anthony possibly being traded this will probably go down as the greatest free agency in NBA history.
