business race on a blue track

Is it wise to start up a new business now? That’s a question family and friends have been asking me lately, and my answer is absolutely! Yes I know, in a time where its difficult to maintain sales, raise profit margins, and compete with rival companies that would sell their souls to the devil to get rid of stock at an unreasonable discounted price. But hold on there is a method to this madness, no recession lasts for ever and when the economy is back on the up and up , you’ll have a good advantage.

Imagine this, you’ve somehow manage to survive the hard times and withstand the adversity of a soaring economy; so the good times should be much easier and very successful. If you start up in a difficult market, you will be so much more cost aware and very frugal. Spending unnecessary can single-handedly kill a business, you would have already mastered techniques to cutting cost without compromising quality.

blog-money

Alright, the truth is it’s very difficult to make millions from blogging; they are some million dollar bloggers out there; but guess what they got lucky!  1 out of every 10,000 blogs gets lady luck on their side and the other 9,999…well they’ve got to partner up with Mr. Hard work or they will fade into oblivion. But like I said with a little hard work you can generate an income just from blogging, I will tell you the 3 main ways, but before I do I must warn you, it is a long process; money cannot be made over night, months or even years. Lets go

Promoting affiliate:
An affiliate product is an item produced and delivered by someone else. All you have to do is insert the product on your website or a link to the products website, recommend the product and if a sale is reached due to your recommendation…hello commission.

www.clickbank.com and www.cj.com are two popular websites to get your affiliate promoting on.

Monetizing Traffic: If you can attract visitors to your site, you can turn traffic into $$$. The most popular way = Google Adsense Ads. Adsense does not typically produce large revenue for small websites with low visitation, so if your planning to make some big bucks from Adsense, be prepared to create a large website with countless amount of pages.

You can also strike up a deal with private advertising clients to display their ads on your website. Then the complex part comes into play, how you get paid

CPC (Cost Per Click)
CPM (Cost per 1,000 page views)
PPC (Pay Per Call)
PPL (Pay Per Lead)
CPA (Cost Per Action)

I’ll get into these different payment methods on another post because frankly I’m Tired

Selling Your Own Product: You have a blog/website already, take advantage of it and sell your own products. Here you will need to have an effective way of marketing them, and once you figure that out; they’ll sell like cold lemonade on a hot summer day. Ebooks, Audios, and Videos usually does well on blogs. It would be wise to sell furniture of your blog, stick to strictly informative material that has connections to your niche.

Danger

At some stage during your business journey things are going to go pear shaped, most people result to denial at this stage, and it only digs them into a deeper hole. Here are seven tell tale signs your business is approaching a rough patch:

1. After two years and still no profit, then something is wrong with your business model. Try the three R’s Rethink, Reevaluate and Relaunch.

2. When you begin to notice you have excess amount of your goods, it means you are probably loosing customers to a competitor who either is selling at a cheaper price or just has better quality. This doesn’t mean you should close up shop just yet, do some research; go to you competitors buy that item whatever it is and compare it to yours. If it’s the same one your selling, then unlucky you, you’ll have to work even harder. Cut unnecessary cost so you can lower you price or go find better quality.

3. If an employee suddenly becomes inquisitive and interested in the business, be alarmed, be very alarmed. He or She knows the business is on its last legs and are confident they can duplicate the business and trust me, it would be their pleasure to deal you the final blow.

4. If you as a business owner relies on an outside income from another job to handle business expenses, then consider your business toast. Having a job while you start-up is a whole different scenario and I advice that but if it continues, you are depriving your business the attention it needs to become viable.

5. Are you borrowing money to pay of other bills? Business owners have an uncanny ability to instill a false sense of security in themselves, thinking they can turn any situation their in into a positive one instantly and pay of any creditor.

6. Poor customer service can single handily terminate a business, you have to lead by example here; when your employees see the way you interact with your customers, they will follow.

7. Employee Moral. The first people to know your business is in trouble are your employees, they’ll hang in there as long as they can, but trust me they won’t be going down with the ship. Have weekly meetings and discussion with them and value their opinions, they usually are the ones who make first contact with customers.

Changing Times

Remember the days when the main streets where filled with cyber cafes, and having  any form of Internet connection at home was a luxury; a luxury I’ll refer to as pain these days.

The pain of having to wait for several minutes for a paragraph to load, go eat dinner just to kill time so that image can finally download, and wake up early before the school bus arrives to download an mp3 that probably won’t have finished by the time you get back from school. Oh damn you 56kbps modems, better yet thank you for being the platform for sixty second downloads, one click web browsing, image hosting and many more.

Years ago none of us could fathom the thought that money could be made on the Internet, and somehow this strictly informative tool has morphed into a big virtual ATM and everyone  is inserting their bank cards! So what’s next? What’s going to be the next life changing craze and when will this current one die out, how many more withdrawals do we have before the ATM starts to read insufficient funds?

Gossip blogger Nik Ritchie woke up this morning and decided to call out Chad OchoCinco on twitter, Nik Ritchie released a story on his blog in which a prostitute claimed OchoCinco gave her a bad check for her services. OchoCinco denied this and called Nik Ritchie a hater. Nik Ritchie also has a questionable looking check on his blog thats supposedly from OchoCinco. You be the judge.

shaq vs steve nash

The big Shaq Diesel does it again, he could not resist the pressure to don us with his presence; that he actually stole this time to do it. This whole saga unfolded on the Phoenix suns team bus,  en route to a game or practice; Steve Nash opens up to his team mates about the new reality show he’s hoping to bring to life someday, the main idea was him facing other pro athletes at their own sport. The team mates where happy for Steve, wished him luck and they proceeded to their game which they probably lost.

About 7-8 months later Super Shaq boarded the bus with his team mates and broke the news to them that he will be starring in a  new reality show where he will be going head to head with, you said it, pro athletes in their own sport. A Suns representative actually heard Nash say “you mean the one you stole from me?”

If you actually watch this show and keep your eyes glued all the way to the credits, you’ll see Steve Nash actually has his name in the credits as an executive producer, this is due to some good legal work performed by his lawyers. See Steve was smart enough to know he deserved a slice of that pie, you should be aware and don’t let anyone take slices out of your pie, especially if they do it without your permission.
